Sustainable Spinning

I began spinning almost twenty years ago, while living in the UK surrounded by a wide variety of sheep breeds. During this time, I learned about the Rare Breeds Survival Trust ( its equivalent in the US is The Livestock Conservancy) and the vital importance of keeping endangered breeds from disappearing. Spinners can help - purchasing Zwartbles wool saved the breed from extinction!

I also love making yarn with plant fibers and materials that have been reclaimed, such as denim from jeans manufacturing, and upcycled, like my threadbare duvet cover! Working in a sustainable way leads you down a path of unexpected creativity, in any form of fiber arts.
